Week Two Pregnancy

You are –

• Though you are not pregnant yet, your body starts ticking off the weeks from this period.
• You might be focused on ovulation by looking at mucus on your vagina.

Your baby –

• Fertilization of eggs will happen only by the end of this week.
• It’s the time when a baby’s gender will be determined.

Women spend up to 7 days with a normal menstrual cycle. Ovulation takes place after 14 days of the beginning of period for a usual menstrual cycle of 28 days. Around one week is the right time to conceive once bleeding stops. Keep an eye on the menstrual cycles for various months to find out whether your menstrual cycle lasts 28 days or even longer or shorter. After calculating the cycle, split it into half. Suppose you have a cycle for 30 days, ovulation must be starting around the 15th day of the beginning of the period.

You might also be having prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid, which prevents defects in the neural tube in the first weeks after conceiving. Women mostly don’t know that they are pregnant until the 6th week.

There are only two out of 46 chromosomes which determine the gender of a baby (rest of them make genetic material). One chromosome comes from the egg and another from sperm. The sperm may have either an X or Y chromosome and an egg has an X chromosome. If sperm with X chromosome fertilizes your egg, you will have a baby girl. If a sperm has a Y chromosome, it will make a baby boy.
